I've shared this word on a limited basis and have found it to be very impacting when I release it; some have in turn shared it and tell me is it very encouraging to people when they do. Several prophetic folks have told me I need to release this word on a larger scale, which is why I am making it available here. Please feel free to disagree or forward on to others.
Background:
In the early part of August 2012, I was in the church sanctuary during one of our corporate times of prayer. I’m not even positive what I was praying or meditating about when the Lord began to speak to me. Even though I was at church, in prayer, sensing God’s Presence strongly, and weeping as He was talking with me, my first prayer after this encounter was, “Lord, I don’t want to be deceived.”
Definitions:
Before sharing the word, I feel it’s important to share a definition. ‘The point of no return’ is the place, for example, that a plane crosses whereby it must continue to its destination because there is not enough fuel to return to its place of departure. But the way the Lord gave this to me was in the context of a gravitation pull (like from the sun or a planet) on an object that is irreversible and inescapable; there is no turning back.
The Word:
The Lord spoke to me and said, “As a nation, we have passed the point of no return… and that we are on a collision course with His love and His mercy.”
When I heard this I began to think about all the things we have done in America (abortion, gay marriage, thumbing our nose at God as He is removed from public life, to name a few) that are worthy of God’s judgment and how the direction of this nation seems to be hanging in the balance. But the Lord began speaking to me that the reason many, including intercessors, don’t really have confidence regarding America’s future, and why we often cannot pray in faith for our nation, is that we don’t fully comprehend His mercy. Again I began to reflect on our collective guilt, when the Lord brought to remembrance the Scripture, “Mercy triumphs over judgment.” (James 2:13)
Thoughts:
I don’t know how this looks going forward for our nation. While I believe we are destined for an encounter with God like we have never seen before, I don’t believe this word promises that we will not experience turmoil, upheaval, or distress in America. On the contrary, Acts 14:22 tells us that it is through many tribulations that we enter the kingdom of God. Isaiah 60:1-2 declares that God’s glory is revealed in a time for gross darkness.
We know our only hope and salvation is in the Lord, not a political party or in even elections. Let us rejoice that His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23, NKJV).
God bless you and the United States of America!
