Dear Voices for the Lord,
There is a cry from heaven for the people of God to no longer keep silent! Ray recently heard the Lord say, “The silence of the lambs is deafening!” God needs His people to make their voices heard as never before - both in heaven and on the earth.
When the church is being silent and not speaking up, it is still making a statement. Is there fear in the Body of Christ to speak out against things in our culture that do not line up with God’s Word? Is there indifference? I'm not sure of the answer, but I know the Lord is saying it is time to pray and that we have a responsibility to speak up for what is right.
The recent abortion bill in New York, The Reproductive Health Act (RHA), which became law on January 22 – the anniversary of Roe v. Wade – amended New York’s public health law by legalizing abortions up to the day of birth, allowing physician assistants to perform surgical abortions and defining a “person,” when referring to a homicide victim, as “a human being who has been born,” so that pre-born babies cannot be considered homicide victims according to this law. In New York City, in 2015, more Black babies were aborted than born.
When I read about the abortion bill passing in New York, I cried. This law gives the right to murder babies that have no voice of their own. The Bible contains the heart-breaking tale of child sacrifice practiced in the name of Molech, a god of the Ammonites. Molech worship occurred in the Hinnom Valley near Jerusalem. Because of this, the valley became associated with Tophet hell (Isaiah 30:33; Jeremiah 19:12; Mark 9:45). When we were in Israel, we were told by a prayer leader who had lived in Israel for more than 20 years, that nothing would grow, nor would birds come in the valley, because of the sacrifice of babies and the bloodshed on the land.
God prohibited Israel from child sacrifice in general and Molech worship in particular. Leviticus 20:2-5 (NIV) states, “Say to the Israelites: ‘Any Israelite or any foreigner residing in Israel who sacrifices any of his children to Molek is to be put to death. The members of the community are to stone him. I myself will set my face against him and will cut him off from his people; for by sacrificing his children to Molek, he has defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name. If the members of the community close their eyes when that man sacrifices one of his children to Molek and if they fail to put him to death, I myself will set my face against him and his family and will cut them off from their people together with all who follow him in prostituting themselves to Molek.’” Many other Old Testament passages affirm God’s zero-tolerance for child sacrifice.
The evil king Manasseh offered his own son as a sacrifice (2 Chronicles 33:6), as did King Ahaz (2 Chronicles 28:1-4). Proverbs 6:17 lists, “hands that shed innocent blood” as one of the six things the Lord hates and are an abomination to Him.
We, as a Christian community, can no longer close our eyes to laws that permit babies to be murdered. One governor stated that if the baby was born alive and the mother wanted an abortion that he would execute the baby.
If you think this same law that is in New York won’t come to your state, you are wrong. States will have to vote and make decisions regarding this abortion law.
What can we do? First of all, pray! We need pastors, ministry leaders, and people around the world to join us in fervent prayer for a divine reversal regarding these laws. Pray this will not be permitted in your state. Second, contact your state congressmen and senators, by writing them, calling their office, or going to their office. They are normally in their local district offices on Thursdays and Fridays. Please join us in crying out to God for mercy for our nation. Pray for truth to be revealed to the people.
In no way is this a political message, but the cry of heaven and my heart. Psalm 107:34 (AMPC) says that God can change a fruitful land into bareness because of the wickedness of those who dwell there. (He can also reverse things and turn a wilderness into a pool of water and dry ground into water springs.) God will answer the cries of righteous people in the land. Let your voice be heard, and as you join others, the sound will grow louder and louder.
